Interior Design
Purpose:
Whidbey Institute is a home for transformational learning and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Our mission is to nurture the conditions for transformational learning, and our purpose is to be a Place for those called by the responsibility and transformative potential of these times.
We partner with a network of program leaders working in the areas of generative leadership, ecosystem vitality, community resilience, and more to offer one-day and multi-day workshops, conferences, and retreats. Our 106-acre conservation forest campus on South Whidbey Island is open to the public and features integrated gardens and a four-mile trail network.

Executive Leadership
Purpose:
Hold the whole of the organizationAccountabilities:
- Coach other staff in our distributed leadership organization, supporting their leadership and building their capacity to make decisions well
- Respond to emergent issues and collaborate with other staff to proactively problem-solve
- When there are gaps in workload/staffing across the organization, strategize with staff to find creative solutions, and step in to serve as interim for positions as needed
- Engage in strategic financial management by tracking our finances, acting as back-up check signer, and coordinating legally relevant activities with governmental and financial entities

Fundraising

Major Donor Fundraiser
Purpose:
Developing relationships with and creating opportunities for major donors to be inspired, involved and contributing financial resourcesAccountabilities:
- Asking donors to give a gift
- Identifying, prioritizing and building relationships with Major donors
- Thanking donors personally
- Providing notes and contact information updates to Salesforce and pledge tracking document
- Coordinating major donor site visits
- Providing major donors an opportunity to develop relationships with each other and offer fundraising circle input and support
- Identifying responsible major donor fundraiser for each major donor relationship
- Setting objectives for each major donor relationship

- Managing ongoing all-staff learning calendar

- Assuring that equity is embedded in all learning and development opportunities

Recruitment & Hiring

Hosting & Logistics
Purpose:
Creating a hospitable, nourishing, safe, and easy flowing experience for program leaders, participants and visitorsAccountabilities:
- Providing tours of land and facilities to potential new organizational or program leader partners
- Coordinating and managing registration, facility set-up, arrival, lodging, and meals for program leaders and participants
- Coordinating with @Program Host in scheduling @Hosting & Logistics role holders as needed for program participants

Network-Building
Purpose:
Deepening our connections to the greater communityAccountabilities:
- Serve as one of the key public faces of the organization, building relationships locally and nationally in support of our mission
- Partner with the Fundraising team to build and maintain key funder relationships, both with individual donors and foundations
- Nurture relationships with values-aligned program leaders, partnering with the Programs team to ensure we have an excellent array of programming booked

Program Host
Purpose:
To support successful multi-day programmingAccountabilities:
- Setting up spaces for programs
- Welcoming and guiding arriving participants
- Orienting groups to Whidbey Institute history, logistics, and culture
- Responding to program leader and participant requests and needs
- Breaking down spaces after programs
- Shuttling participants as needed
- Coordinating logistic set-up call with client
- Distributing all information regarding logistical setup to concerned roles
- Updating internal calendar and Smartsheet as needed
- Coordinating meal service details (dietary needs, final meal counts, meal times) with @Meals Provider
- Coordinating housing details including arrival and departure changes and room relocations with @Cleaning
- Coordinating parking and event needs with WIWS when necessary
- Sensing furnishings and design needs in coordination with @Interior Design
Purpose:
Maintaining aesthetic style and providing furnishings, accessories and decor for all indoor spaces to be welcoming and accommodating for guest needs.
